I started a new gym. I'd been going to Curves for 8 years, but the one closest to me shut their doors. Another victim of the economy. The next nearest Curves is too far to be convenient.
Did I mention I hate to exercise? The location of my workout has to be close enough that I can't talk myself out of it before I get there. And believe me, I have lots of excuses lined up.
So I chose a gym within a 15-minute drive from my house.

This is a real gym ... with weights and machines and ... stuff.
I started out the first week really great. I had a personal trainer (I love the sound of that) show me around and talk to me about the philosophy and physiology of working out.

Who knew? But the day after my first workout, nothing hurt. Now, to me that was a good thing. But according to my trainer (I really get a kick out of saying that), I wasn't doing enough.
So, this week I decided to crank it up a bit. I used 45 pounds for my upper body workout. Did I mention I'm a writer and typing it the most exercise my upper body gets? Well, my fingers are the only things not hurting right now.
And the hubs? Oh, he's very sympathetic. He grins and repeats, "No pain no gain."
I tried to tell him I'm not trying to gain. I'm trying to lose.
