Budget-Friendly Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas

If you're looking to spruce up your home but don't want to break the bank, these ideas will get you started.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it’s time to welcome friends and family into your home. If you’re on a budget this holiday season, but you still want to embellish your home with a bit of fun, fall decorating, it’s still possible to spruce things up without breaking the bank.

1.) ADD SOME FOLIAGE: When I say foliage, I don’t necessarily mean real leaves (unless, of course, you’re feeling up to it); however, you can buy an abundance of fake leaves and berries at your local craft store and turn them into a fantastic holiday centerpiece.

2.) SAVE THOSE PUMPKINS: Even though most of us equate pumpkins with Halloween, they make wonderful decorations for Thanksgiving. Instead of carving them, paint the exteriors in beautiful autumn colors such as red or brown, or even add a luxurious flare with silvers and golds.

3.) UPDATE THOSE FAMILY PHOTOS: Since most of us have loads of family photos hung throughout the house, it doesn’t take much to snap a few pictures of your kids playing in the leaves. Once you get a few good shots, have them developed and temporarily swap them with your regular photos. When all is said and done, it’s actually incredibly easy and very cost-effective.

4.) MAKE SOME LUMIARIES: By saving a few old cans, you can actually make beautiful luminaries for your home by printing a few festive stencils from the internet (acorns, leaves, turkeys, etc.) and using nails to imprint their outlines on each can.

5.) CREATE FESTIVE PLATES: Many of us have dishes we rarely use, so why not utilize them during the holidays by turning them into your Thanksgiving finest! By purchasing a few stencils from your local craft store, you can paint an assortment of festive designs onto each plate before baking them in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes (so they can be used as real plates).
