Collins Hill Has New Look for Opener

Collins Hill High will have a decidedly new look on offense for Friday's opener at Roswell (7:30 p.m.).

Coach Kevin Reach had great success with the spread offense led by QB Taylor Heinicke last year, as the Eagles made it all the way to the AAAAA state semifinals.

However, Heinicke is gone, and now the Eagles will be a "more balanced" team, Reach said this week.

Brad Johnson will be the starting QB against Roswell as the Eagles become the final Suwanee team to open the season. North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge both lost in the Corky Kell Classic last weekend.

On offense, the Eagles feature Andrew Everrett and Conner Boston at wide receiver, Shawn Stachler at tight end, Jermichael Bailey at running back and offensive lineman Sam Batiste.

Reach said his team was "a little banged up" in preseason practice, including after a scrimmage vs. Berkmar, but that his team is feeling better now.

The game will be televised on Georgia Public Broadcasting and www.gpb.org.

North Gwinnett: The Bulldogs (0-1), ranked No. 10 in AAAAA by GPB, host East St. Louis (Ill.) in a special double-header Saturday. In the first game, Grayson High, ranked No. 5 in AAAAA, takes on Edgewater (Fl.) at North.

Peachtree Ridge: The Lions (0-1) have an open week; they travel to Roswell on Sept. 2.
