Death of Gwinnett Man in Gainesville Treated as Homicide

Gregory Stinchcomb, 50, of Sugar Hill, was found dead in a wooded area on June 4.

Gainesville, Ga., police are investigating the death of a Sugar Hill man as a homicide.

Gregory Stinchcomb, 50, was found dead June 4 around 5:30 p.m. in a wooded area near Chestnut Street, the Gainesville Police Department said in a press release on Monday, June 9.

“The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to assist with the crime scene investigation and it was later determined by autopsy that foul play was apparent,” Cpl. Joe Britte said in the press release.

It was not known how long Stinchcomb’s body had been in the woods before it was found by a passer-by.

Police are asking for the public to come forward to report anything suspicious in the area.
