
Born in Suwanee, Georgia in December 18, 1880 and the brother of Professor William Clarence Strickland. He runs an up and coming dentristry office in Covington, Georgia.
His parents were George Washington and Laura (Langley) Strickland. Both had been slaves and his father farmed. His grandparents on his paternal side were Joe and Mary Strickland. Being reared in slavery they were without book learning but lived to a ripe old age from sevety to ninety years.
During his childhood Edie worked on his fathers farm. He had little schooling before he entered Clark Atlanta University and worked at whatever sessions offered to pay his board. He worked on his fathers farm during summer vacations. He went from Clark Atlanta to Meharray College in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated with the degree of D.D.S. in September 1st 1913. Ediie is also fond of history and a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in which he joined at 18 years of age and today his is a Sunday school teacher and steward.He was also affiliated with the York Masons and the Good Samaritans. His reputation as a businessman is one of being straitforwward, moral and honorable dealing. He first a truer and deeper conception of the Chirst life. He knew the value of a dollar. He sougth the improvement of home life. He believed in the aboltion of strong drink. These virtues made him a success in business and in life.
