The fire caused heavy damage to a rack of batteries at the Suwanee-area business.

An early morning fire caused heavy damage to a rack of batteries at a Suwanee business Thursday.
Gwinnett Fire said the fire was reported around 1 a.m. at Interstate Battery, located at 190 Buford Highway. No one was injured.
The fire was contained to an interior corner of the warehouse, and appears to have originated in a battery-charging area.

The exact cause is not known and is under investigation, according to a news release.
The fire department’s hazardous material team arrived at the scene to provide light-contamination support because the fire involved batteries.

“The decontamination of the gear for the initial attack crew was done as a precautionary measure and is typical during such situations,” the news release stated.
