
The Gwinnett Braves fell behind late in the game Monday night at Coolray Field to end their latest homestand with a loss.
Newly optioned reliever, Anthony Vavaro had a scoreless seventh inning and the eighth would prove to be no less disappointing. Tied at 3-3, Vavaro retired the first two batters of the inning, but walked the next two and then gave up a single and a double to put the Braves behind 6-3.
G-Braves starting pitcher, Erik Cordier went 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts, but also gave up a two-run home run.

Gwinnett's offensive efforts included Stefan Gartrell's 25th home run of the season and he frinished 1-for-4 which included 2 RBIs. First baseman Mauro Gomez was 3-for-4, while Matt Young finished 0-for-3 with an RBI. CF Jeff Fiorentino was 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
The G-Braves are on the road for four games in Syracuse, NY and then on to the Carolinas for two. The Braves begin their road-trip against the Chiefs on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
