Gwinnett Braves Open Season on Thursday

The team heads for Durham. The home opener is next week.

"I had forgotten how much fun minor league ball is," Bobby Cox said Tuesday night at Coolray Field.

Of course, Cox, the former Atlanta Braves manager, had just finished managing the Future Stars team to a strong showing against the parent team in an exhibition game. And Thursday, the fun continues when the Gwinnett Braves, some of whom played in Tuesday's game, open their season at Durham, N.C.

The G-Braves will open the home portion of their season next week.

Joey Terdoslavich, who had an RBI in Tuesday's game, is among those who will be on the G-Braves' roster in 2012. Pitcher Jaye Chapman is another Gwinnett player who was on the roster for Tuesday's game.

Pitcher Julio Teheran, who had a strong year with Gwinnett last year, will return for 2012. He will be the starting pitcher in Durham; Teheran compiled a 15-3 record, 2.55 ERA for Gwinnett in 2011.
