Georgia-Produced Frozen Chicken Nuggets Recalled for Contamination Threat

Slightly over 15,000 pounds of chicken are being recalled by Perdue.

By Justin Ove

A nationally-known Georgia producer of chicken is recalling around 15,000 pounds of fully-cooked but frozen poultry over fears that some of it may be contaminated with foreign matter.

Perdue, which is based in Gainesville, is recalling eight ounce boxes of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets which have the establishment number P2617 and a sell-by date of 2/5/15. According to the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service, the recall is due to consumer complaints of small pieces of plastic found in the product.
