Georgian Tops Mens Field in Suwanee Golf Event

Winston Gibbs of Hartwell, Ga., and Morgan Jackson of Seminole, Fla., won the men's and women's divisions of the Collegiate Players Tour event at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee this week.

The 54-hole, two-day event was the fourth of 12 stops on the tour, which is designed to help college golfers keep their games in shape when classes are not in session.

Gibbs, who plays at Shorter College, finished at 224 (11 over par) on the par 71 course. Jackson, who plays at Jacksonville University, finished at 245 (32 over par). 

Chris Stuart of Suwanee (Georgia College) finished fifth in the men's competition at 237 (24 over par). There were 13 men and five women in the field.
