2 Suwanee High School Teams Ranked Statewide

As the high school basketball season draws to a close, the boys and girls teams both look like Region 7-AAAAA title contenders.

The North girls are ranked No. 5 and the boys No. 8 in the latest statewide poll from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

The defending state champ Norcross boys are No. 9, and the Norcross girls are No. 3. They also are defending champs.

The region tournament will be at Peachtree Ridge (early rounds) and Meadowcreek (semifinals and finals), according to Gwinnett schools' Athletic Director Mike Emery. Four teams from Region 7-AAAAA will advance to state tournament play.

The state boys and girls tournaments begin the following week, and both will conclude at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth on March 9.
