Designated hitter Chris Carter hit a grand slam in the ninth inning Sunday to lift the Gwinnett Braves past Columbus, 8-5, in Columbus, Ohio.
The G-Braves scored five unearned runs in the ninth to remain two games behind Durham in the International League South.
Pitcher Mike Minor went five innings for Gwinnett, but did not get the decision. Carter was 3-for-5 with four RBI for the G-Braves.
