GUYS and DOLLS is THE Not-To-Miss Show of the Summer!
June 1-3 at Lambert High School Theatre, performed by Play On Players

Play On Players presents Guys and Dolls Jr, the award-winning musical comedy classic about rolling the dice and falling in love under the lights of Broadway. All the glamor and excitement comes to Suwanee/Johns Creek in this fast-paced family-friendly favorite. The cast of 50 sing and dance to songs like “Luck Be a Lady”, “Bushel and a Peck”, and “I’ve Never Been in Love Before”, amidst beautiful costumes and sets. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, but eventually all the guys – and dolls – end up right where they belong. This fast-paced show is Guys and Dolls like you’ve never seen it before – and undoubtedly the not-to-miss show of the summer!

The show draws from the best high school and middle school talent across the North Atlanta area, with performers from Gainesville to Milton to Dahlonega, and more. It’s worth the drive, according to cast member Alec Beard who plays the archetypical ‘cool guy’ Sky Masterson. “It’s the best quality show I’ve ever been in” said Beard, “everyone is totally supportive of each other – with a goal of putting on the best possible show”. The show’s gambling theme hits home for Lauren Hill, who plays the prim and proper Sarah Brown. “As a senior, I’ve been thinking a lot about my future. And I’ve come to realize the same thing that Sarah Brown does in the show -- that following your heart is worth the gamble.” Play On Players has been a launching ground for many students pursuing their dream of a career in theatre. “Working with POP has solidified that this is what I want to do, and has given me the tools to do it” said Jack Skeean who plays the high roller Nathan Detroit. “We are all so fortunate to have this incredible group right here in North Georgia”. “POP has given me lots of amazing opportunities”, said Brooke Blackwell who plays the ditsy and somewhat annoying Miss Adelaide. Because of her involvement with Play On Players, Blackwell was selected to go to New York to be part of the iTheatrics “Lion King Kids” choreography DVD.

Guys and Dolls took top honors at the International Junior Theatre Festival this past January, where Play On Players was selected from 114 groups from 26 states and several foreign countries to perform for the 5000+ people at the festival. “We were so honored to be selected to perform” exclaimed Carly Berg, co-director and choreographer for the group. “The Festival is such a great learning experience for everyone!” The group’s co-director and music director Haden Rider agreed “I’m so proud of these kids. We push them really hard and they always rise to the challenge. Each show is better than the last!” Rider and Berg were selected by Music Theatre International to attend this summer’s Freddie G Broadway Experience for Theatre Educators, a weekend of seminars, master classes and Broadway shows taught by Broadway professionals.
