Gwinnett Braves Fall Into Second Place

Durham takes victory at Coolray Field.

The Gwinnett Braves dropped into second place in their division with their second straight loss Saturday at Coolray Field. The Durham Bulls scored five runs in the fourth inning and went on to win, 8-1.

Gwinnett (36-32) now is a full game behind first-place Durham in the International League South.

G-Braves starting pitcher Erik Cordier allowed four earned runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings. The G-Braves were limited to three hits on the night: one each by Matt Young, Stefan Gartrell and Ed Lucas.

The teams play again Sunday afternoon (2:05 p.m.) at Coolray Field. Latino Fan Fest also will be taking place; gates open at 12:30 p.m.
