Gwinnett Braves Lose Opener of Road Trip

Columbus starts fast in 9-5 victory.

The Columbus Clippers scored eight runs in the first three innings Friday and went on to a 9-5 victory over the Gwinnett Braves in Columbus, Ohio.

The Clippers' Lonnie Chisenhall hit a grand slam off G-Braves pitcher Todd Redmond (5-7) in the first inning. Luis Valbuena added a three-run homer. For the G-Braves, Mauro Gomez was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Gwinnett remains three games behind Durham in the International League South. The teams play again Saturday night in Columbus, with Julio Teheran (7-1) to start on the mound for Gwinnett.
