The Durham Bulls roughed up Gwinnett Braves starter Johan Flande on Friday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville for an 8-5 victory. The teams now are back in a first-place tie in the South Division of the International League.
Flande gave up nine hits and six runs, all earned, in 4 1/3 innings. Julio Lugo had a three-run double for the G-Braves. Left fielder Nate McLouth, on a rehab stint from Atlanta, was 1-for-3.
The teams play again Saturday (7:05 p.m.) at Coolray Field. The G-Braves also will be hosting a Juneteenth celebration as part of their Heritage Nights this summer. Former Brave Otis Nixon and some former Negro League players will take part in the Juneteenth event.
