Gwinnett Braves Pitchers Combine for Shutout

Five Gwinnett Braves pitchers held Durham scoreless on six hits Thursday in a 2-0 victory in Durham, N.C.

Starter Todd Redmond went six innings, but did not get the decision, which went to Arodys Vizcaino. Jairo Asencio earned his 19th save.

Brandon Hicks was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Gwinnett, which is now one game behind leader Durham in the International League South.

The G-Braves also announced that catcher Wil Nieves, acquired by Atlanta from Milwaukee, has been optioned to Gwinnett. Relief pitcher Anthony Varvaro was recalled to Atlanta from Gwinnett.

The teams play Friday in Durham; the G-Braves return to Coolray Field on Saturday.
