Gwinnett Braves Resume Season at Home on Thursday

The New York Yankees' slugger has nothing on the Gwinnett Braves' Stefan Gartrell, who brings a trophy of his own back to Coolray Field as the G-Braves resume regular-season play Thursday (7:05 p.m.)

Gartrell won the Class AAA home run derby Monday in Salt Lake City with 16 home runs, seven in the final round.

Atlanta Braves legend and Utah resident Dale Murphy was on hand for the AAA derby, offering a retro jersey for the home-run champ, according to a report in milb.com.

Gwinnett (50-41) is a half-game behind Durham in the International League South. Norfolk is Gwinnett's foe Thursday and for a weekend series.

The G-Braves also announced that Martin Prado, who recently came from Atlanta on a rehab assigment, has been sent to Class AA Mississippi.
