Gwinnett Braves Split Double-Header

G-Braves take nightcap with Charlotte at Coolray Field.

The Gwinnett Braves and Charlotte Knights split a double-header Saturday at Coolray Field. The G-Braves won the nightcap 2-1 after losing the opener 2-0.

In the first game, the G-Braves managed just two hits, one by third baseman Martin Prado, on a rehab assignment from Atlanta. Christhian Martinez was the hard-luck losing pitcher for Gwinnett.

In the second game, pitcher Yohan Flande allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings. Jeff Fiorentino was 3-for-3 for Gwinnett.

The G-Braves also announced that infielder Brandon Hicks has been recalled by the parent club in Atlanta.

The teams play the last game before the All-Star break on Sunday (2:05 p.m.) at Coolray Field. Gwinnett (49-41) is tied for first with Durham in the International League South.
