Gwinnett Braves Struggle with Pitching in Loss

Solid hitting not enough to fend off Syracuse.

The Gwinnett Braves got shelled in their 13-4 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs on Tuesday night.

This was the third loss for Braves starting pitcher, Steven Shell, who lasted only three innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and three strikeouts.

The Braves had three players with several hits in the game. Stefan Gartrell went 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI and a walk. Brandon Hicks, also 2-for-4, scored a run, and RBI and had his 16th homerun of the season. Jeff Fiorentino, 2-for-4 as well, had a run scored, 2 RBIs and his fourth homerun of the year.

The G-Braves face the Chiefs for a second game on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Syracuse.
