Gwinnett Braves Tied for Wild-Card Lead

Teheran hit hard in loss on road.

The Gwinnett Braves lost Thursday night at Norfolk 9-4 and fell into a tie for the wild-card lead with idle Lehigh Valley. The G-Braves have four games remaining in the regular season.

Julio Teheran did not have his usual dominating stuff. The right-hander allowed six runs and six hits in three innings. The big blow for Norfolk was a three-run homer by Brandon Snyder in the second inning.

Wilkin Ramirez, Diory Hernandez, Matt Young and Jeff Fiorentino each had two hits for Gwinnett.

The G-Braves now move on to Charlotte for two games. The team returns to Coolray Field on Sunday.

The G-Braves also announced that pitcher Anthony Varvaro and catcher J.C. Boscan have been recalled by Atlanta; major-league teams can expand their rosters after Sept. 1. Also, G-Braves infielder Wes Helms, a former Atlanta Brave, has been released from the organization.
