Gwinnett County Names Top School Counselors

As part of National School Counseling Week, celebrated this year Feb. 2-6, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) highlighted the key role school counselors play in the academic success and overall well-being of all Gwinnett children.

In doing so, the school district named its top counseling professionals of the year. In addition, the district recognizes innovative programs that show evidence of counseling program advocacy and goals that use data to guide program design, delivery, and evaluation. These outstanding programs earned the 21st Century Comprehensive Counseling Award.

The 2015 GCPS top counseling professionals and programs are:

2015 Gwinnett County Elementary School Counselor of the Year

• Danielle Graff of Jenkins Elementary

2015 Gwinnett County Middle School Counselor of the Year

• Dr. Vanita Moon of Snellville Middle

2015 Gwinnett County Secondary School Counselor of the Year

• Kim Tepker of Duluth High

2015 Gwinnett County Mary Joe Hannaford Counseling Advocate of the Year

• Dr. Dion Jones, Principal of Roberts Elementary

21st Century Comprehensive Counseling Program of the Year Award recipients:

• Mulberry Elementary (Dacula High Cluster) — Counselor Darcy Long
• Jones Middle (Mill Creek High Cluster) — Counselors Karen Bevak, Natalie Enter, and Ashley White
• Parkview High— Counselors Dr. Judy Days-Dee, Kim Salo, Brenda LaMonque, Samela Reid and Leigh Wilkinson
• Shiloh High— Counselors Vameker Banks, Erica Dailey, Devin Jones, Dinaia Crumbley and Kenton Johnson
