Gwinnett Fire: School Briefly Evacuated in Tuesday Incident

A bad HVAC motor caused a haze of smoke at Rock Springs Elementary School

A burned-out motor in an HVAC unit forced a brief evacuation of a Gwinnett County elementary school Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived at Rock Springs Elementary School near Lawrenceville around 1:47 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, but found no sign of smoke or fire. The school was evacuated as crews checked out a slight haze of smoke in a room.

Staff and students were allowed back into the school after the smoke was cleared.
