After several months of negotiation and planning, the City announced that a 120’ by 60’ real ice rink, complete with a covered tent and other rink amenities, will be coming to Sugar Hill starting November 14 and running through February 16. The City will have an entire lineup of winter activities and programming available to residents as well as rental and sponsor options for local businesses, schools and community organizations.
“By making the decision to partner with Golden Productions to install a real ice rink on the lawn behind city hall, Sugar Hill has captured another opportunity to ‘Go Big or Go Home’, which has recently become our unofficial marketing campaign. This new downtown amenity will become a destination for all ages during the winter months,” stated Mayor Steve Edwards.

Mayor Pro Tem Marc Cohen expressed, “I am so excited about this decision which continues the momentum of the 75th Anniversary by bringing a unique winter experience to downtown Sugar Hill. People can come enjoy the area, play a little hockey, or learn to skate. As a transplanted Midwesterner, I grew up skating and look forward to joining the community on the ice.”
“The Ice Rink, snow and other planned winter-themed activities are all part of a much grander picture of improving the quality life for our residents, said Council Member Curtis Northrup. “Sugar Hill is proud to continue to use events as another means of economic development and to show residents and businesses our commitment to the community.”
The City website and social media options will have all of the latest pricing details, sponsor opportunities, and reservation options by the middle of next week
