'John Doe' Patient was Retired Gwinnett County Schools Employee
Police ID man who died in a Duluth hospital last week as John Philip Rogers.

The “John Doe” patient who died last week at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth was a retired employee of Gwinnett County Schools, police said Thursday morning.
Gwinnett Police said investigators with the Special Victims Unit identified the patient as John Philip Rogers, 62, of Duluth.
Rogers was positively identified on Wednesday, Aug. 6, by a son who flew in from California.

Police had been trying to identify the man since he was taken to the hospital after first responders found him in cardiac arrest in Peachtree Corners on July 29.
“Mr. Rogers lived in the area where he was found and it was reported that he would take long walks or bike rides on a daily basis,” police said in a news release.

Rogers was found around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 on the side of the road on South Old Peachtree Road near Lou Ivy Road in Peachtree Corners.
He was listed in grave condition at GMC-Duluth until he passed away around noon on Friday, Aug. 1.
