Staff Report
Johns Creek Elementary held its 8th annual Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in the outside courtyard. Each year the school takes time on this very special day to honor veterans in the community who have served in the Armed Forces. Veterans were invited to a special reception before the ceremony. A 30-foot American flag hung for all to see. The Atlanta Chapter of The Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard participated in authentic uniform and led over 80 Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to say the Pledge. The patriotic program honored veterans and current military personnel from all five military branches. Members of the Lambert High School string orchestra led by directors, Mrs. Rosseter and Mr. McCloy, along with the JCE chorus, under the direction of Ms. Elisha Thompson, performed several patriotic songs dedicated to those who served. Many students participated in the celebration and various 5th grade students were highlighted as they shared how they are inspired by veterans.
