Kenerly Pleads No Contest; Won't See Prison Time

Former Gwinnett Commissioner Kevin Kenerly had been accused of accepting $1 million in bribes.

Kevin Kenerly, the former Gwinnett County commissioner who was accused of accepting $1 million in bribes to influence county land deals, will not be going to jail.

Kenerly pleaded no contest to felony bribery during a Tuesday afternoon hearing in Gwinnett County Superior Court. District Attorney Danny Porter has recommended a sentence of 10 years on probation and a $10,000 fine, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Porter reportedly recommended probation for Kenerly due to Kenerly’s family circumstances. He has small children and his wife is facing a “terminal illness,” the Gwinnett Daily Post said.
