Movies Under the Stars will present two movies at Town Center Park on Saturday, August 23. The Lego Movie will be shown on a digital board at the Town Center stage beginning at 7 p.m. Shortly after the end of that movie, around 8:45 p.m., Divergent will be shown on the inflatable big screen.

Rated PG, The Lego Movie is a 3D, computer-animated film that is “the story of a nobody who saves everybody.” Released earlier this year, the film follows Emmet, a completely ordinary Lego mini-figure who is the key to saving the Lego universe from the evil tyrant Lord Business.

On the Rotten Tomatoes website, ReelViews critic James Berardinelli says: “This is truly a movie that children and their parents can both enjoy for different reasons.”

Divergent, one of the year’s most action-packed releases, is the story of a teenager who doesn’t fit into one of her futuristic society’s neatly packaged factions based on virtues. The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. It is rated PG-13 for intense violence and action, thematic elements, and some sensuality.

Ryan Gilbey with New Statesmen says in a Rotten Tomatoes review: “Science fiction it may be, but the essence of the film is that timeless adolescent conundrum: Who am I?”

Bring chairs, blankets, and snacks to Town Center Park, but no alcohol may be brought to the park. Beer and wine may be purchased from licensed Town Center merchants.
