Maynard of Suwanee Nominated for ESPY
The Collins Hill High grad receives more recognition for his feat of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kyle Maynard, the grad who has turned his disability into a career of inspiration, is headed for more recognition. The Suwanee resident is in the running for an ESPY award, the prestigious program run by the ESPN TV network.
ESPN's annual awards and show honor athletes in various categories. Maynard is nominated in Best Male Athlete With a Disability (you also can vote for Maynard via this link.) Maynard was born without complete arms or legs.
In January, Maynard and others completed a grueling mission -- climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa.

Maynard, who operates No Excuses Crossfit in Suwanee, trained on Stone Mountain for the mission. He also is in strong demand as a motivational speaker. Among his other honors: He was recognized by the Suwanee City Council in February for his Kilimanjaro climb.
The ESPY winners will be announced on ESPN on July 11, 8 p.m.
