A New Generation of Apps in the Real Estate & Lending Industry

Whether we like it or not, times are changing, but with the advent of a myriad of social media sites and smart phones, it’s never been easier to hunt for the perfect home. Over the last few years, an abundance of new generation apps have been produced with the sole purpose of taking the real estate shopping experience to the next level.
From mortgage calculators to apps that allow you to see home listings on your phone, companies like Trulia, Century 21, and RE/MAX have produced user-friendly programs which allow buyers and sellers the opportunity to view the market from the comfort of their own phones.
With this, newer programs—such as 3D Showcase by Matterport—actually allow users to virtually walk room-to-room in for-sale homes with 3D images that can be rotated, zoomed, and turned. Additionally, for those interested in seeing what rooms look like without furniture, the new program also gives users the opportunity to erase or restage furniture so they can get a better idea of how things will look in person.

From there, apps such as Beamly utilize Bluetooth-enabled devices throughout participating homes in order to send detailed information about the home’s features directly to shopper’s phones when they don’t feel like braving the bustle of crowded open houses.
Even more interesting, is the ability of certain apps to draw boundaries around interactive maps of various neighborhoods so that potential buyers will be able to have a better idea of the area they’re considering. These apps display an array of social media content from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for the user-highlighted neighborhood and even go so far as to produce deals and coupons from local businesses.

In the end, the innovations are endless; however, no matter the method you’ve used to settle on a home, never underestimate the value of working with an actual person. All of the technology in the world will never take the place of a tried and true human being, especially when it comes to the mortgage lending process. Yes, computers may make things easier, but when it comes to making a large financial purchase, it’s generally best to work with an individual who will get not only get to know you as a person, but your individual story as well.
If you’re ready to begin the process of securing a mortgage, please do not hesitate to call me. I’d love to hear from you.
