North Gwinnett Girls Fall
Roswell edges the Lady Bulldogs in AAAAA state tournament action Tuesday.

The Roswell High Lady Hornets won their second-round state playoff game Tuesday, beating visiting North Gwinnett 38-35.
North Gwinnett's Lexi Brown led all scorers with 13 points, the only Lady Bulldog to score in double figures. Payton Whitted had nine points, Rachel Brucks scored eight points, Annie Wheeler scored four and Annie Wheeler made one free throw for one point.
Andreona Keys led Roswell in scoring with 12 points, sinking 5 field goals and 2 of her 6 attempts at the free throw line. Shelby Barker joined her in double figures with 10 points.

The Lady Hornets opened up scoring, holding the Lady Bulldogs scoreless until 3:38 in the first quarter, when the score was 6-2. The teams traded leads until Roswell went ahead at the end of the first half, 23-18.
But the third quarter wasn't so kind to the Lady Hornets, who trailed by as much as eight points. It wasn't until 5:05 in the final quarter that the Lady Hornets regained the lead. But with 2:23 left in the game, the score was tied, 35-35. The Lady Bulldogs sent the Lady Hornets to the foul line, and with less than a minute left, Roswell took the lead for good. Three free throws made the final score 38-35, with the final basket coming with less than 10 seconds left in the game.

Roswell plays next on Saturday, March 5, at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
