North Gwinnett Teams Aim for AAAAA Semifinals

Boys and girls resume state tournament play Saturday in Carrollton.

The second season has been better than the first for basketball teams, and now they are just a win away from the Gwinnett Arena.

Neither Bulldog team won the region tournament, but they both are still alive for Saturday's quarterfinal games at University of West Georgia. The girls take on 7-AAAAA rival Mill Creek, and the boys face Milton.

So far in the playoffs, the girls have defeated South Gwinnett and Woodstock, and the boys have beaten Central Gwinnett and Wheeler.

Victories Saturday would put the teams from Suwanee in the state semifinals next week at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth. The title games are March 9, also at the arena.

The North girls are led by Lexie Brown, Ariel Johnson and Peyton Whitted. North's boys are led by Chris Bolden.
