Passenger Shoots at Gwinnett Officer During Attempted Traffic Stop
Multiple shots were fired in the area of Dawson Boulevard and Graves Road near Norcross.

Shots were fired at a Gwinnett County police officer attempting to make a traffic stop Sunday night.
The officer was unharmed.
According to police, a passenger in the suspected car fired three to five shots at the officer in the area of Dawson Boulevard and Graves Road near Norcross. The shootings occurred around 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10.

The officer attempted to stop a dark-colored sedan travelling at a high rate of speed when the officer “saw muzzle flashes to match the ‘popping’ sounds,’” from the passenger’s gun. The vehicle got away.
Shell casings were found in the area of the attempted traffic stop.

Police stopped a possible suspect vehicle a few minutes later near the Sienna Heights Apartment on Graves Road. “The driver of that vehicle was arrested on traffic charges, but it is still unclear if the vehicle was involved in the earlier shooting,” police said in the news release.
The investigation continues.
