Lions stay unbeaten for showdown with North Gwinnett

had a sputtering offense in the first half, but it woke up in time for the Lions to take a 35-20 victory over Mill Creek on Friday in Hoschton, according to news reports.

Trailing 7-0 early, the Lions got a scoring pass of 37 yards from Billy Best to Joe Horn with 2:37 to play in the first half. Then Lions safety Alex Gray stripped Mill Creek's John Russ of the ball near midfield and ran 55 yards for a TD and a 14-7 halftime lead.

Horn and Ahmad Harris added scoring plays in the third quarter as the Lions took a 28-7 lead. After Mill Creek rallied to within 28-20, QB Best ran 1 yard for a score with 17 seconds left for the final margin.

Ridge is now 8-1, 6-0 in 7-AAAAA. It travels to North Gwinnett on Friday for the region title game.
