Suspects Lead Police on Chase from Gwinnett to DeKalb

Multiple agencies, including the FBI, pursued the vehicle after a car break-in was reported.

Suspects wanted for a car break-in at a Gwinnett County park took multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase into DeKalb County Tuesday, the FBI said.

Police were looking for one of the suspects Tuesday afternoon in the Ashford-Dunwoody area at Interstate 285. Fox 5 reported two of the suspects were apprehended.

According to media releases, FBI agents were at West Gwinnett Park on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on another matter when they witnessed a car break-in and alerted Gwinnett Police.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said officers responded to the call around 11 a.m. An officer attempted to make a stop of the vehicle at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Reps Miller Road near the Norcross-Peachtree Corners boundary.

“The suspects did not comply with the officer and fled the scene in their vehicle,” Smith said in a release. “The officer’s arm was grazed by the fleeing vehicle; his injuries were minor. The FBI pursued the suspects out of GCPD jurisdiction.”

The suspects then led officers on a chase to the Ashford Dunwoody area in DeKalb County. The FBI said in a news alert that officers with Dunwoody Police, Brookhaven Police and the Georgia State Patrol joined the pursuit and searched for the suspects on foot.

Dunwoody PD said on Twitter the suspect on the run was a thin, light-skinned black male with tattoos on both forearms, and around 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He was possibly armed.

“All charges related to today’s events would be State charges and any further information regarding those charges will be deferred to local law enforcement authorities at this time,” FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett said in the news alert.

Gwinnett PD said the driver of the suspected vehicle will be transported back to Gwinnett to face charges.
