A classic touch reigned at Town Center Park with The Smithereens and others.

"I feel like I'm in high school again," someone said Saturday night as The Smithereens performed on the Town Center Park stage at Suwanee Day.

And indeed, the musical portion of Suwanee Day had a retro touch.

It's rare for a warmup band to get an encore call, but there were cries of "more" when The Buggs -- a Beatles tribute band that emphasized The Beatles' early years -- left the stage. The group's similarities in appearance and music to the younger Fab Four were amazing.

And The Smithereens also incorporated some classic tunes into their 90-minute set. There was a singalong with The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" as well as other  touches of The Who and The Youngbloods.

The Gasoline Brothers and Classic City Express (and local vocalist Jordan Humphrey) also performed Saturday.
