Suwanee Man Runs 100 Miles -- Around One Park

Rob Lykins made 28 laps around Town Center Park over the course of two days.

SUWANEE, GA -- Rob Lykins wanted to do something big in the running community before leaving Suwanee to move back to his home state of Michigan.

On May 27 and 28 he did it. Lykins ran 100 miles, all of it in Suwanee's Town Center Park.

That's 28 laps around the park's 3.6-mile running loop.

"This was my third 100-mile run and it was the hardest of all three,” said Lykins in a post shared on social media by the City of Suwanee. "With 17 miles left I sat down and told [his wife] Catherine I was done and wanted to go home.

"The heat had shut me down and I was 100 percent ready to be done."

In the end though, his friends got him through.

A friend who is also a 100-mile finisher took Lykins for a walk and talked him into continuing.

"No one would let me leave," Lykins said. "I was given nothing but support and encouragement."

He finished 27 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds after he started.

In the post, Lykins thanked friends, the Suwanee Big Peach Runners, Suwanee Town Center, his wife, Catherine, and son, Asher.

"This run was hard but just what I hoped it would be -- time with friends," he said.
