Suwanee Schools Have Distinguished Scholars

Hundreds recognized for outstanding work on advanced-placement courses.

Suwanee's three high schools each had hundreds of students qualify as national AP scholars, recognition for high performance on college level work while in high school.

North Gwinnett had 291 students qualify, Peachtree Ridge had 223, and Collins Hill had 173 students recognized by the College Board, Gwinnett school officials announced.

Advanced Placement is accepted by more than 3,600 colleges and universities worldwide for college credit, advanced placement, or both.

In all, more than 2,200 Gwinnett public school students earned such recognition in the 2009-10 school year, up from almost 1,900 the year before. Several students received multiple awards for different levels of distinction. This places the students in the top 18 percent of the 1.8 million students worldwide who took the AP exams.
