Suwanee Teachers in Running For Teacher of Year

Several teachers from Suwanee high schools are in the running for competition for Teacher of the Year in Gwinnett County.

Tara Termes of , Jim Stewart of and Lindsey Cafarella of have been selected to represent their schools in the process.

The annually honors the commitment and devotion of its 11,000 teachers by celebrating them during the Teacher of the Year recognition, according to a news release.

This year, 129 educators are in the running. Termes teaches biology and forensic sciences, Stewart is a media specialist and local school technology coordinator, and Cafarella is a world history instructor.

The five-step selection process will involve selecting 25 semifinalists and six finalists. The annual Teacher of the Year banquet and the announcement of the winner will be Thursday, Nov. 3.
