2012 Sales Tax Holiday Is On for Gwinnett Back To School Shoppers

Shoppers can get a break on Aug. 10-11, 2012.

Shoppers with children in school in Gwinnett can enjoy a sales-tax holiday that is now under way.

According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, the state is offering shoppers a sales-tax holiday on back-to-school goods on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10-11.

The sales tax will be suspended on general school supplies, clothing worth $100 or less, and computers and computer accessories.

The National Retail Federation has estimated that parents with school children will spend about $690 on clothes, electronics and school supplies on back-to-school purchases. That is an increase of $85 from last year's average.
