Brookwood-Peachtree Ridge Winning TD: What Do You Think?
Video shows an interesting development near the Brookwood ball carrier on the winning play in overtime.
Controversy is a part of sports.
There was the winning touchdown "flea flicker" play in the 1965 Alabama-Georgia game. (Was the player down before the touchdown was scored?)
There was the controversial "holy roller" play on the winning touchdown in the Oakland Raiders-San Diego Chargers game in 1978. (Did Ken Stabler really fumble, or throw an incomplete pass?)

Now, the 2011 Brookwood-Peachtree Ridge playoff game from Friday may add to the lore.
The Broncos defeated the Lions in Suwanee on Friday in overtime in the AAAAA playoffs. However, Patch video (also posted on YouTube) shows that on the winning run in overtime, a Peachtree Ridge defender near ball carrier B.J. Sammon may have been "clipped" (blocked from behind).

No penalty was called, the play stood, and Brookwood won. Had a penalty been called, the winning TD would have been nullified and the Broncos would have been backed up farther from the goal line.
The video offers a clear view of what happened.
According to the National Federation of State High School Associations website, the definition of clipping is:
"Not allowed outside the free-blocking zone. Within the zone, offensive linemen may clip only opposing linemen who were in the zone at the snap and may block in the back opponents who were in the zone at the snap."
So, what do you think? Was it clipping on the winning TD play? Or was the play penalty-free? Sound off in the poll, and the comments.
