Bites Nearby: Gary's Bistro

Tucked inside The Avenues at Webb Ginn in Snellville, Gary's Bistro brings a neighborhood-hangout vibe to the sophisticated shopping area. Despite its casual feel the aesthetic of Gary's is better than your average neighborhood bar. Large booths with cherry wood tables fill up the majority of the dining room, which is accompanied by a bar space that allows customers to enjoy lunch and after work cocktails. There is also an outdoor patio for dining.

Gary's Bistro host a series of special events on weeknights. Monday is kids day where kids under the age of 12 eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. Wednesdays are titled Uncorked, which features a six-wine tasting menu, buffet and live music. Friday thru Sunday features a series of Chef Paul inspired events such as Thursday date night, and Saturday's slow roasted baby back ribs.  

Menu offerings come in the soup, salad and sandwich variety but also offer up unique entree selections such as the herb crusted tilapia and Gary's Tomahawk Duroc pork chop. Highlights include the honey bourbon salmon, a moist cut of salmon topped with a honey bourbon crust and served with rice and a vegetable medley ($16). The lobster bisque, described on the menu as "heaven in a bowl" was creamy in texture and contained small, crumble-like bits of lobster ($5.50).

In addition to main course options Gary's also boasts an impressive dessert menu. Favorites were the Georgia peach cobbler and the chocolate chip cookie pizza, a cookie dough base topped with chocolate chips, strawberries and whipped cream ($6 each).

Food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering and our server Alaina was friendly and attentive. Gary's also has an impressive number of large flat screen televisions, which would make it a great spot to grab a beer and catch the latest game; Gary's Bistro has a full bar and serves signature martinis.

Gary's Bistro is located at 1250 Scenic Highway-Suite 1240, Snellville. The bistro is open Mon. - Thurs. from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fri. - Sat. from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Menu items range in price from $3.00 for a cup of soup to $22 for an entree.
