Ex-School Superintendent Arrested In DeKalb Domestic Incident: Report
The former top official for DeKalb County Schools was already facing federal charges after being accused of wire fraud and other charges.
TUCKER, GA — Former DeKalb County School Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton is facing more charges after police accused him of assault and child cruelty charges, CBS News reported.
Horton was arrested following a domestic incident Saturday in the 1800 block of Chedworth Lane, the news outlet reported. The escalating incident reportedly involved a dispute that turned physical between him and his wife.
DeKalb County Jail records on Tuesday showed Horton was arrested on charges of aggravated assault-strangulation and third-degree cruelty to children. He was released from jail Monday, records showed.

Horton was already facing federal charges in Illinois after being accused of wire fraud, honest-services fraud, federal program theft and tax evasion in a 17-count indictment. He later resigned from his role as top official of DeKalb County Schools.

The charges relate to allegations from his time as superintendent of the Evanston/Skokie district in Illinois.
The indictment claimed Horton did not report all of his income on federal taxes, used a procurement card for personal expenses in 2022 and 2023 and collected kickbacks totaling $81,700 by way of a sibling, WAGA-TV reported.
Horton also was accused of guiding professional contracts to businesses connected to his associates and green-lighting invoices "for work that was not performed."
He pled not guilty to the charges, CBS News reported.
