The Haughty of the Beltway

Obadiah 1:3
The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’

Even while I write this message, Obama is haughtily making plans to act without authority to grant illegals a status that leaves them free from fear of deportation. It is not the first time the current occupant of the White House has decided only he knows what is good for America and issued an executive order to override the will of the people.

He and his minions have been selective when enforcing laws passed through legislative process. They have sued states for enforcing laws because they felt those laws should be ignored. The lawlessness with which they have run the Executive branch of our government shames the Mafia.

For those of us who have always depended on the constitutional process to reign in a rogue elected official, this has been appalling. Worse has been the complicit participation of the Democrats in both houses of Congress. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have been using every threat their dirt-digging selves could think of to force other Democrats to goose-step to their tune.

The horror show doesn’t end there. We have the Republicans on the other side of the aisle doing their own goose step. Holding the power of the purse has proven worthless. When monies could have been withheld to stop lawless actions by the executive branch, the Republican leadership has curled into a fetal position and pretended their hearing, eyesight, and vocal chords had not had time to develop.

All of this self-serving power grabbing has left me feeling rather ill. I’ve encouraged voices from both houses that were raising the roof over the lawless actions inside the beltway. I’ve written the Republican leadership letters and made phone calls demanding they remember there are people in this country who want the Constitution to be enforced. I’ve pitched the best hissy fit that a Southerner knows how to pitch all to no avail.

Mitch McConnel l and John Boehner both exhibited their ability to fight hard when they were challenged for those seats in Congress. Good men who would have remembered We The People were maligned in a ruthless manner that left no stone unturned in the nasty attack. The pit bulls were unleashed and they kept their power seats that are making them wealthy.

So, back in Washington, D.C., with their little cronies and their power intact, they roll over and play dead when faced with a fight worth winning. Every tool available to them is being ignored and Republicans who are voicing their opposition to the illegal actions of Obama and his crew are being told to sit down and shut up. The establishment is eating its own in an effort to ensure their power and wealth go unchallenged.

The absolute arrogance of all of these “leaders” has left the American public sickened. We do not trust any of those holding the power seats. Our champions are being crushed under the rollers of the power machine and our voices and our votes are being ignored.

One thing I know for sure, their pride will surely bring about their fall. My only fear is that it will not be in time to save America.
