October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Stop domestic abuse! Help us give violence against women and girls the boot!
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The month-long observance reminds us to stay vigilant with our message that violence against women and girls must end! It also provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the Victors of intimate partner violence. We invite you to join us at one of the events The Purple Boots Foundation has planned for the month.
We kick off the month with our annual fundraiser Fashion for Action - a tea party, fashion show and silent auction. The evening, themed “Jewels of the World,” kicks off at 4pm ET with a purple carpet, followed by tea, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, live music, a fashion show and a silent auction.
Other Domestic Violence Awareness Events
On Thursday, October 15, PBF will host the Wear Purple Day Event at Mark SQuared Studios at 7pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple, gather to hear remarks about the impact of domestic violence in our community, view the domestic violence PSA-Short Film “Controlled” and participate in a sky lantern release.
The Motivation & Makeover Conference is a private event that honors Victors of domestic violence with a day of empowerment and rejuvenation. The event is held on Saturday, October 24. Go here to nominate a domestic violence Victor who can use a day of healing.
The month will close with Fun for Action in the Fantasy House of Fun - a family friendly walk through attraction filled with live actors, visual illusions and other fun surprises on Friday, October 30 through Saturday, October 31. Proceeds will benefit the Foundations on-going programs.
