
The 13th Annual DeKalb County Middle School Basketball Championships wrapped up quarterfinal play on Wednesday night to set up both the girlsβ and boysβ Final Four on Friday, Feb. 8 at Miller Grove High School.
The girlsβ semifinals features a battle of undefeated teams as Region B titlist Champion (14-0) takes on Region C champ Columbia (14-0) in the 7:10 p.m. girlsβ semifinal at Miller Grove High School. Champion knocked off Salem (7-6) and Columbia got past Region A No. 2 seed Stephenson (11-3).
The 4:30 p.m. girlsβ semifinal has Region A champ Chapel Hill (13-1) taking on Region D winner Cedar Grove (10-4) for a spot in the finals. Chapel Hill won over Henderson (4-10) while Cedar Grove knocked out Tucker (7-6) to advance.
The boysβ first semifinal is set for 5:50 p.m. at Miller Grove with Region A winner Salem (12-2) facing off with surprising defending champion Lithonia (3-12) who entered as the No. 5 seed from Region C and has won three consecutive tournament games including a victory over Redan (11-3) in the quarterfinals.
The last semifinal game on Friday is set for 8:30 p.m. as Region A No. 2 seed Chapel Hill (12-2) meets Region A No. 3 seed Miller Grove (9-5). Chapel Hill was a winner over Region C champ Chamblee (12-2) and Miller Grove upended Region B champ Tucker (12-2) to reach the semis.
The consolation games and champions will be played on Saturday at Miller Grove. The girlsβ semifinal losers meet at 2:30 p.m. followed by the boysβ semifinal losers at 4 p.m.
The girlsβ championship game is set for 5:30 p.m. and is followed by the boysβ title tilt at 7 p.m.
