Stone Mountain Park Forecasts 100 Percent Chance of Snow

Up to 360 tons of snow are expected daily now through February 2017 at Stone Mountain Park.

It’s only mid-October, but fresh snow – up to 360 tons per day – is now falling at Georgia’s most visited attraction. Stone Mountain Park officially began the months-long process to create its winter destination, Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park, in preparation of opening its ninth snow season just prior to Thanksgiving.

Media are invited to get the first peek at the 2016 snow pile taking shape on the “Laser Lawn” while also viewing construction of the snow tubing lanes that transform the lawn into Atlanta’s must-see winter destination. Snow Mountain tickets are now available via StoneMountainPark.com.

Media may also take home fresh snow to their newsrooms for use with Atlanta’s afternoon and evening weather reports. Live and taped options available; helicopter flyovers may capture the multi-acre scope of the snowmaking process.

What: The season’s first snow is now blowing at Stone Mountain Park to create the ninth season of Snow Mountain. Early-season tickets are now available via StoneMountainPark.com. Snow Mountain opens Nov. 19 and operates through Feb. 26, with Stone Mountain Christmas tickets and combo ticket packages also available now.
