From a news release: Two DeKalb County students are among the winners of Rep. Hank Johnson's (GA-04) 2014 Congressional Arts Competition and were awarded four college scholarships worth $29,500 on April 26 at the Lou Walker Senior Center.Since 2007, Johnson has awarded more than $250,000 in arts scholarships to Fourth District students."Every year, the arts competition seems to get better and better," said Johnson. "I'm so proud of all the students who participated. Every student should be justifiably proud of their art and accomplishments."More than 15 high school students from DeKalb, Rockdale, Gwinnett and Newton counties submitted artwork competing for the four college scholarships. Bo Shi Shi, who attends Clarkston High School in DeKalb County, won a $12,000 scholarship from Savannah College of Art and Design for "Petrichor."Shi Shi will travel to Washington, D.C., in June to see his art displayed in the Capitol, where it will hang with other award winners for a year. Shi Shi also won two roundtrip airline tickets to Washington, D.C., for the National Recognition Ceremony, where he will attend a master artist class.Iyana Isom from Miller Grove High School in Lithonia won a $10,000 scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta with her piece "Two Little Girls and Umbrellas."
