• 'Dance Mom' star, Steven Spielberg's daughter attached to movie filming on Tybee Island (wjcl.com) — Movie crews are on Tybee Island this week filming the psychological thriller "Girl," with scenes at The Breakfast Club and the Sandcastle Inn on Butler Avenue. The city warns drivers to expect brief traffic stops along 15th Street between Highway 80 and Savannah East and West Boulevard while production is underway.

Lightning strike causes wildfire at Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge (wsav.com) — A lightning-sparked wildfire at Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge grew to about 100 acres Sunday, sending smoke visible from Tybee Island to Hilton Head. Wide beaches, a relaxed atmosphere, and easy access to Savannah helped secure the Wherever Awards honor, accepted on the island's behalf by Visit Savannah.
