12 Businesses Cited For Selling Alcohol To Underage Buyers

The Cherokee County Marshal's Office's operation targeted a total of 72 establishments in unincorporated areas of the county.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A dozen establishments were cited over the weekend for allegedly selling alcohol to underage residents.

That's according to the Cherokee County Marshal's Office, which conducted an operation April 30 to identify businesses and restaurants accused of selling alcoholic beverages to citizens under 21

A total of 72 locations were checked throughout unincorporated Cherokee County, and the undercover, underage operatives were successful in purchasing alcoholic beverages from 12 of the 72 establishments that were checked.

The store clerks were immediately cited for alleged underage alcohol sales and have a pending court date.

Those 12 locations are:

  • Super "A," 5586 Yellow Creek Road, Ball Ground
  • Citgo, 2267 Highway 372, Ball Ground
  • Valero, 5963 Union Hill Road, Canton
  • Shell, 435 Hickory Flat Highway, Canton
  • Page & Son, 8274 Knox Bridge Highway, Canton
  • Texaco, 3780 Sixes Road, Canton
  • Publix, 3760 Sixes Road, Canton
  • 3-Way, 1430 Kellogg Creek Road, Acworth
  • Hobgood Chevron, 5195 Towne Lake Parkway, Woodstock
  • Sunoco, 5724 Bells Ferry Road, Acworth
  • Citgo, 6223 Bells Ferry Road, Woodstock
  • Exxon, 6425 Bells Ferry Road, Woodstock

"Cherokee Marshal’s Office will continue to periodically check businesses for these types of violations, and encourages business owners to educate and warn their employees on the ramifications and dangers of selling alcohol to underage persons," said Cherokee Chief Marshal Ron Hunton.

The Marshal’s Office also conducted taxi cab inspections, ensuring the companies were in compliance with county ordinances and regulations.

One taxi cab belonging to Victory Cab Company did not have the inspection permit sticker required by county ordinance and its driver also has a pending court date, said Major Jamie Gianfala of the Marshal's Office.
